Steve McQueen’s “Blitz” follows the epic journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him to safety in the English countryside. George, defiant and determined to return home to his mom and his grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, embarks on an adventure, only to find himself in immense peril, while a distraught Rita searches for her missing son.
I was able to get 3 months free of Apple TV plus on my Roku device a few days ago. I saw that Blitz was on there and checked out the information tab. Once I saw a movie that takes place during World World 2, I was sold! I enjoy watching WW2 movies and decided to give this one a try. I watched Blitz and decided I had to make a review. The story is incredible as a young mother has to send her child to the country side to escape the bombing from Germany. As the boy is on a train, he jumps off and is trying to get home. During his journey, you will see many aspects of the war that I haven’t seen much on television. The movie showed he wasn’t the first child to do this, and he also learned of the diverse British citizens during this era.
The action was incredible in the movie as your showed how destructive these bombing raids are done to the towns in Europe. You also see how the underground was used to house people during the bombing raids. Yet, a situation arose in the movie that made it very scary to be there during that time as well.

- A young boy is sent to the countryside of Britain to escape the bombing of his town. Yet the young boy challenges that decision and decides he wants to come home. During his venture home, he discovers more of himself and the cultural during Britain of that time.
- Action
- A lot of action is shown throughout the movie Blitz! You are shown the destructive force of the nightly raids Germany did against Britain during WW2.
