Rising electronic-pop artist Adam RenZ launches into a bold new era with the release of “Ready Player One”, the electrifying first single from his highly anticipated four-track EP, GAMEBOY. The single is now available on all major streaming platforms, with subsequent tracks from the EP set to drop throughout the year via a waterfall release schedule.
“Ready Player One” (RP1) isn’t just a song—it’s a statement. It marks a turning point for RenZ, who uses the track as a sonic and emotional leap into reclaiming his narrative. Once titled “Main Character Syndrome,” the song captures the inner conflict of living life as a background character—supporting everyone else’s dreams while questioning your own worth.
“I had a moment where I realized I was helping everyone else build the life they wanted, while I felt stuck,” says RenZ. “RP1 came from a conversation with someone who felt the world owed them something. That moment flipped a switch in me. I knew I had to step up and start controlling my own story.”
Drawing inspiration from retro gaming culture and futuristic soundscapes, “Ready Player One” blends pulsating synths and layered production reminiscent of old SEGA soundtracks and Formula 1 engines. RenZ carefully crafted his vocals to sound more digital and immersive, transforming himself into a playable character in the high-tech universe of his own making.
“I wanted RP1 to sound like nothing you’ve heard before,” he explains. “Every synth, every vocal tweak was meant to make the listener feel like they’re entering a different world—a place where they can be the main character in their own life.”
Pushing the boundaries of cyberpunk electronic pop, GAMEBOY is both a nostalgic homage to 2000s electro-pop and a futuristic manifesto. Each track explores themes of identity, control, and empowerment, offering listeners a soundtrack for reclaiming agency in a world that often feels out of control.
