October 11, 2024 – Today, the Nashville-based singer/songwriter Abbey Cone releases her new single “this little lighter of mine,” a gentle song about giving yourself grace in the wake of hard times. Cone slides through a celestial sonic landscape with her soft yet powerful vocals in an ode to lighting up when you’re feeling down. |
“‘this little lighter of mine’ is a title I brought into a write with Josh Lovell and Hank Compton,” shares Cone. “I wanted to put an edgy, cheeky twist on the traditional children’s hymn, ‘This Little Light of Mine.’ Ultimately, this song is about vices. We’ve all got ’em and need something to take the edge off every now and then, because life is hard sometimes.” The track follows Cone’s delusional girl summer bop “I Hate Springsteen,” which attracted attention from CMT, Country Central, Holler, Taste of Country, All Country News and many more. This spring, she announced her signing with Downtown Artist & Label Services for distribution and shared her first release with the group: a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” recorded live at The Ryman supporting LeAnn Rimes. Cone just wrapped a run with Kimberly Perry on CMT’s Next Women of Country Tour and will support Mickey Guyton and Morgan Wade this fall. Elsewhere, she performed a hard-hitting cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire” with Brittney Spencer for The 615 House, and joined Spencer at her Tiny Desk performance, helping to arrange the set and providing background vocals. Over the past two years, Cone has played C2C Festival in London at The O2, Stagecoach, CMA Fest and has made her Grand Ole Opry debut after being invited by 22-time GRAMMY winner Vince Gill on the heels of her first single as an independent artist, 2023’s “If You Were A Song,” amassing over 16.6 million streams on Spotify alone. With an induction into CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2020 and one of Pandora’s 10 Country Artists To Watch in 2022, Cone has garnered praise from People, CMT, Music Row, The Tennessean and more.
